The only allusion to three children who perished on the voyage from Scotland to Nova Scotia appears in the notes of Margaret Bamford. This notation has never been substantiated or verified. Family lore says that "James" was one of the three children who died, most likely of smallpox or whooping cough, on the ship, Sarah, during the voyage to Nova Scotia in 1801. I include him here but I am not convinced he ever existed.
