First Generation
1. Alexander MACDONALD. Born AFT 1801 in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Alias/AKA: /Owen/.
Alexander and Isobel lived in either Foxbrook or Hopewell, Nova Scotia, Canada. I think they lived in Hopewell. This community is located on the West Branch, East River. An early name was Milltown from the John Duffs grist mill. The site is partly on a 500 acre lot granted to Alexander MacIntosh in 1797 and which may have been settled by him as early as 1785. The other lot on which Hopewell is located was granted to Alexander MacDonald in 1828.
On 25 OCT 1821 when Alexander was 20, he married Isobel MACKENZIE, daughter of William MACKENZIE (1 APR 1770-11 MAR 1868) & Flora MACMILLAN (19 OCT 1769-15 MAY 1853). Rev. John McRae. Born on 22 OCT 1795 in Killearnan Parish, Ross-shire, Scotland. Alias/AKA: Isabella.
The OPR (Old Parish Registers) states that “on 22 October 1795, Mr. David Denoon, baptized Isobel, daughter of William McKenzie, servant in Parktown, and his spouse Flora McMillan, in the presence of Jn. Mc Kenzie, butcher in Kilroy and the Kirk Officers.”

I have a certified copy of the baptism certificate for Isobel MacKenzie from Scotland.

The exact burial place of Isobel and Alexander remains unknown.
